Year 1 Curriculum
Literacy
Year 1 children are split across 5 Read Write Inc groups this half term. The children have been working very hard at recapping the sounds they learned in Reception as well as learning new sounds in Year 1. Your continued support with this at home is greatly appreciated.
Numeracy
This half term we have been developing our addition and subtraction skills, using number lines and learning our 2, 5 and 10 times tables. We have been using memorable songs to practice ours times tables and using practical equipment, like cubes and socks, to figure out if a number is even or odd. We have also been learning to tell the time to O'clock and half past and we even made our own clocks!
Creative Curriculum
This half term, our topic is 'School Days'. The children will be learning about how school life has changed throughout the years, with a big focus on what school was like for Victorian children. We are planning on going on an educational visit to Blists Hill Victorian Village to find out what life was really like for Victorian children and families.
In P.E we have been taking part in various Multiskills activities getting ourselves ready for a Multiskills festival.
